We won the Best Christmas Department in the North East

Thursday 13 December 2018

The GCA runs a Christmas Competition every year for its garden centres to enter. We have entered for the past 6 years, with a lot of hard work we finally won in 2018!

The Garden Centre Association (The GCA) runs a friendly Christmas Competition every year for their members to take part. The competition is judged on a number of factors: Housekeeping (making use the department is clean and tidy), Product Range (is there enough variety of products to choose from), Merchandising (how the stock has been put on the shelves), does every product have a price and how well each theme is brought together (e.g. enchanted theme, traditional theme, Lighting etc). These factors apply for each category in our Christmas department e.g. Artificial Trees, Tableware, Decorations etc.

As well as the Christmas department, the judge also takes into account Christmas in the Café: decorations, Christmas food offerings and ambience. We are also judged on our Christmas events, website, displays and marketing.

Finally the judge also assesses the Ambience Factor: were they impressed, would you recommend to a friend, overall Christmas feeling.

The Judge arrives unannounced to each garden centre and spends a few hours in each centre. At the end of the visit, the judge then feeds back ideas of how the centre can take their Christmas forward for the next year.

We are very pleased to announce that the Judge found our Christmas department the best in the North East! As we have entered the competition the past 6 years, we are very proud to see how far our Christmas department has come, and can’t wait to keep on growing it!
