Helping Hedghogs

Wednesday 01 April 2020

Give a helping hand to your local hedgehogs by following these simple tips:

Tip 1_ Hedgehogs like to travel from garden to garden. If your garden is fenced off, cut a 12-15cm hole at the bottom of the fence at each side of your garden.
Tip 2_ Hedgehogs love hedges and compost heaps as hideaways. When turning your compost do so carefully, you might have a spikey friend hiding among the compost.
Tip 3_ Create a hedgehog hideaway in a corner of your garden, by using twigs and leaves. This can be a great activity to do with the kids.
Tip 4_ Give your hedgehog a helping had by leaving meat based cat or dog food in your garden, as well as a bowl of water.
